Business Plan Round

All concepts are reviewed and rated.  Concepts qualifying for the second round will be assigned a mentor.  Teams whose concepts do not qualify for the second round will be given a coaching session with recommendations.

Phase II participants must attend a Business Plan Workshop hosted by the center and a coaching session by one of The Center mentors with a signed letter from the mentor submitted with the business plan.  It is recommended that the team leader successfully complete the Introduction to Entrepreneurship Course at York College.

In the Business Plan Round, teams test feasibility, conduct market analysis, identify potential customers, and prepare financial projections.  The teams will present their material in a full-scale business plan to a panel of judges.

After expanding on ideas presented from the Business Concept round, teams should explain how their business plan would give them an edge over their competition.  The plan should present the business as both viable and sustainable and capable of meeting any operational challenges.

Good plans will operate not only as a planning tool, but also as a selling tool.  A well-written and well-thought out plan should be as attractive to investors as it is easy to implement.
