| Student Business Plan Competition The J.D. Brown Center Business Plan Competition is a great opportunity for students to transform amazing ideas into amazing businesses. Beginning in the fall semester with idea generation and continuing through the spring semester, teams will have the opportunity to investigate idea feasibility, create and test prototypes, and write business plans for presentation to a panel of judges. The competition takes entrepreneurs as a single student or a student-based team, through a series of phases: from concept, to feasibility studies and market analysis, to full-scale business plan. Winners qualify for monetary prizes. The competition is required for majors in Entrepreneurial Studies at York College, and is also open to entrepreneurial students in any field. Team leaders must be a current York College student, though other members of the team are recommended, but not required to be students. At least one member of the team must hold a senior-level management position in the proposed venture. The concept/proposed venture must be original work of the student teams and classified as such. Students are encouraged to build teams across multiple disciplines to increase the wealth of knowledge in the team. Students and student-based teams are provided with extensive feedback throughout the competition process, and prizes are given to the best business plans. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni from every department are encouraged to participate. Use the links on the left to learn the details of our competition. |
