Center Founders

An important component of the J.D. Brown Center is the support of our growing group of Founders.

Our Founders are active entrepreneurs from a wide variety of industry sectors with a common commitment to provide curriculum and program assistance to The Center and entrepreneurial students at York College, and the community.

As part of The Center’s mission to “provide tangible value to entrepreneurs,” the mission of Our Founding Members is to become engaged in teaching and mentoring both students and practicing entrepreneurs.

Starting with our initial Founding Members’ (
John Brown) most generous gift, which helped start the Center, the tradition of successful entrepreneurs supporting The Center continues with the Hogg Family Director Gift.

Our Founding Members work and volunteer to offer a real-life component to meet the focused needs of the region’s entrepreneurial community. In addition, the ever-important tradition of scholarship support for young entrepreneurs, which began with the Dick and Faye Reinhardt Scholarship through the National Federation of Independent Business, (NFIB) continues through donations from many other generous individuals. Our Founders:
• Mentor students and entrepreneurs in starting
and operating  businesses.
• Provide internship opportunities.
• Assist the center and York College faculty in
developing support  material for classroom use.
• Team teach with faculty, deliver lectures and
assist with community  training.
• Financially support the mission of the center to
assure sustainability.

Our Founding Members are a critical component to meeting the growing needs of the region’s entrepreneurs. They enjoy challenging themselves and sharing their experience with aspiring entrepreneurs as part of the dynamic of giving back to the community.

The Center exists because of the support of its Founders.  Founders' donations cover not only the program’s operating costs, but help fund student scholarships, local libraries, support for research, curriculum development, and other materials beneficial to the Center.

Founders may choose to spread their experience and knowledge in a number of ways.  The classroom is an outlet for Founders who would like to offer practical, real-life advice and knowledge to students.  Combined with faculty, Founders can teach in areas of their choice and expertise, allowing them the freedom to teach what they are passionate about.

Outside of the classroom, Founders can help set the course of the center’s programs by board involvement and oversee The Center’s operations and planning.
