Patent, License and Copyright Information

The following is a list of useful patent research databases. This list includes general search databases as well as those for individual federal laboratories.

Delphion Intellectual Property Network - Formerly the IBM Intellectual Property Network.

US Patent and Trademark Office - Full-Text Database now offers all US patents issued since 1790, in the form of searchable patent numbers and current US classifications.

U.S. Patents - A comprehensive bibliographic database containing records for each of the 2.6 million U.S. patents issued since 1975.

Patent Cafe - Provides links to patent search databases and resources.

Arizona State University - Intellectual Property Information - General information on how to best perform searches for U.S. patents.

DNA Patent Database - This database serves as a resource for members of the general public interested in fields like genomics, genetics and biotechnology. The DPD contains a collection of DNA-based patents and patent applications issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, (USPTO), and makes the full-text version of such patents available at no cost to the public. This searchable database allows researchers to track data or trends of patents and patent applications in categories such as the date of issue, the inventor or the receipt of government funding.
